OCFJC Adopt-A-Family

We were joined November 16^th, 2020 by Programs Director Stephanie Bruschini and Adriana Moreno, the Executive Director of the Orange County Family Justice Center. Adriana has had 18 years’ experience in the non-profit sector while Stephanie has been with the firm for 4 years.

 

Established in 2006, the Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation (OCFJC Foundation) is a nonprofit that is one of 15 partners of the Orange County Family Justice Center, which co-locates employees of local law enforcement and social services under one roof. The OCFJC facilitates access to the services that victims need to protect themselves and their families from further violence. The mission of the OCFJC Foundation is to provide direct victim assistance and empowerment and prevention resources to victims and families whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and elder abuse. The OCFJC Foundation transforms victims into survivors and breaks the cycle of violence.

 

This year marks the 11th annual Adopt-a-Family Program. In this community-based program, a needy family is selected to create a list of items wanted or needed by the family. Each family member, adults and children included, get to select three different items, all between $20 – 30.

 

Supporters and donors purchase these items for the family, providing a very happy Christmas indeed. These items need to be wrapped, labeled with the recipient family member and family number and dropped off at the OCFJC no later than December 11,2020 so the gifts have time to be organized and distributed to the families on December 17. This year due to the CV19 pandemic, distribution will be in drive-up format.

 

This year the OCJFC has adopted 75 families. The Rotary Club of Anaheim has adopted families in past years and will be adopting a family of 5 this year.
