On February 29, 2020, Rotary Club of Anaheim Past-President Cathy Dutton was awarded the 45th Annual Americana Award Citizen of the Year Award, for Anaheim, by the Cypress College Foundation. The Citizen of The Year Award recognizes well-known, highly regarded and active members of the community for their significant community service over the last 5 years.
Cathy is a Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive. For 35 years, Cathy was employed by five Anaheim Hotels as director for Sales and Marketing. While the events planner for the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce she helped develop new events such as the State of the City and Taste of Anaheim, as well as expanding the Anaheim Business Expo.
Employment may have kept Cathy involved in Anaheim, but service did more. She became a member of the Rotary Club of Anaheim almost 30 years ago. She is currently our immediate Past President, Membership Committee Chairperson, and also a key member of the Fundraising Committee. She has raised donations for Rotary, Anaheim Beautiful Adopted Neighborhood Program, Love Anaheim Day of Service, Backpacks for Magnolia School District, Free Dental Clinic and Fish Festival for disabled youngsters from Cops 4 Kids and Orangewood.
We congratulate our fellow Rotarian on this well deserved award and for exemplifying our motto of “Service Abve Self”.
