Nathan Zug joined us on Monday October 19, 2020, from Love Anaheim. Nathan Zug is a police and fire chaplain and an elder in the Magnolia Baptist Church. He’s been on the school board for 20 years and is devoted to working for the greater good.
Nathan runs Love Anaheim, a public benefit charity foundation decided to justice, mercy and humanity. There are numerous programs in the Love Anaheim foundation. First is Love Anaheim Service Days, of which there are 4 – 6 of them per year, incorporating 2500 volunteers conducting 100 projects throughout the city. The second is the “Better Way Anaheim Pathway to Work” program assisting in getting homeless individuals gainfully employed; of which there have been 900+ participants since 2017. Another program is “Love Your Seniors” involved meeting the needs of our senior citizens. Some of the other programs include the Care Partner/Chaplain Program providing Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). Participants can be certified in this program receiving their chaplain certification and becoming a Community Care Partner.
Love Anaheim partners with numerous organizations to achieve their goals. Service groups like Rotary, and Kiwanis as well as other non-profits such as the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and Pathways of Hope lend a hand. So do school districts, members of the business community, faith-based communities, and all the departments of the city of Anaheim.
Projects include Care Cup distribution, Red Cross Blood Drives, care basket creation and distribution, food distribution, hygiene product distribution as well as yard clean up and BBQ’s and lunches for first responders.
Even though the COVID 19 pandemic has greatly affected the programs, he last big program Love Anaheim conducted was the MBC Labor of Love project in September. Conducted sat the Magnolia Baptist Church, the participants in this project included 27 partnerships.
